There are 2 main video file formats that the Zune supports which are Windows Media video files (.wmv) and MPEG-4 video files (.m4v). The Zune can also be configured as the default player for these file types.

Some QuickTime video files (.mov) will work on the Zune but the software cannot be setup as the default player for this file extension like it can for .wmv and .m4v files.

Also supported are the following types: divx, xvid, rm, rmvb and avi. Zune video converter software can be used to transfer DVD movies to any of these file types.
